RadioPL Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2, 2026
Last updated: October 7, 2026
RadioPL ("the app") is an iPhone and iPad app for listening to Polish radio stations. It is made by Szymon Stephan-Sikora, an independent developer ("I", "me", "my"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where that information goes, and the choices you have.
The Short Version
- I do not collect your personal data. RadioPL has no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of its own.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no analytics, and no crash-reporting services. It does not track you across apps or websites and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
- Your data stays with you. Your favorites, listening history, and custom stations are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, they sync through your own private iCloud account. I cannot see that data.
- No microphone, location, contacts, photos, or camera access. The app never asks for these permissions.
- I only receive information if you email me. If you contact me, I receive whatever your email contains.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
RadioPL keeps the following on your device so the app works the way you expect:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Favorite stations and their order | Show your favorites |
| Recently played stations and play counts | Show your recents and suggest stations |
| Songs heard (song title, artist, station, and time) | Show your song history; the app keeps up to 100 songs per station |
| Custom stations you add (name, stream address, website, color) | Play stations that are not in the built-in list |
| Last station played | Resume playback, or play on launch if you turn that on |
| Wake-up alarms (time, days, station, label, fade-in) | Run your alarms |
| App preferences (sleep timer length, station sorting, "Save Songs to Shazam", "Collect Songs in Apple Music", "Play Last Station on Launch", "Rewind While Listening", tips you have seen) | Remember your settings |
| Total listening time and the days you listened recently | Show your listening time in Settings, and decide when to ask for an App Store rating |
| Number of tips you have given | Thank you in the tip jar |
| Cover art addresses for songs | Show album art without looking songs up again |
| A record of the last 20 stations that failed to play (station, time, error, and the stream addresses tried) | Help the app handle broken streams, and include in a feedback email only if you choose to (see Section 4) |
| Recent app diagnostics from Apple's MetricKit (crash, hang, and performance reports) | Include in a feedback email only if you choose to (see Section 4) |
Some of this information, including the current station, the song playing now and its cover art, your favorites and recent stations, your custom stations, the sleep timer, and your upcoming alarms, is shared with the RadioPL widgets and Control Center controls on your device through a shared container. That container stays on your device.
Station logos and song covers are downloaded and cached on your device to make the app and widgets faster.
Rewind and pause. If Rewind While Listening is set to On Wi‑Fi (the default) or Always, the app keeps up to the last 30 minutes of the station you are playing in memory so you can rewind and catch up. When you pause, the app keeps recording the station in memory for up to 30 minutes so you can continue where you left off. It does this even if Rewind is off. This audio is never saved to storage, shared, or exported. It is discarded when you stop playback, switch stations, or after 30 minutes.
Apple Intelligence. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the app uses Apple's on-device model for two things. It interprets what you type into the station finder, or ask Siri to suggest, so it can recommend stations. It also separates song titles from artist names when a station's song information is unclear. This processing happens entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to me or to a server.
2. iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is turned on for RadioPL, these items sync between your devices, including RadioPL on Apple TV, through Apple's CloudKit service:
- Favorite stations
- Recently played stations
- Songs heard
- Custom stations
This data is stored in the private database of your own iCloud account. I cannot access, view, or export it. Apple handles storage and sync under the Apple Privacy Policy. Your alarms, the order of your favorites, and your other preferences are not synced and stay on each device.
RadioPL also supports Handoff. When you play a station, your other Apple devices can offer to continue on the same station. Apple handles Handoff between devices signed in to your Apple Account.
Turning it off: Go to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud and turn RadioPL off. To delete RadioPL's iCloud data, use the iCloud storage management screen in iOS Settings.
3. Third-Party Services the App Connects To
RadioPL has to contact other servers to work. When it does, those servers can see standard connection information, such as your IP address, along with the generic system information that every iOS app sends (for example, the iOS networking library version). RadioPL does not add any identifier, account information, or personal data to these requests.
Radio broadcasters
When you play a station, the app connects directly to that broadcaster's streaming server, or to a streaming provider the broadcaster uses. That is how internet radio works. Each broadcaster's own privacy policy covers how it handles connection data. If you add a custom station, the app connects to the address you entered.
Station logo hosts
Logos are downloaded from the broadcasters' websites and from public image hosts such as Apple, TuneIn, Wikimedia, Google, GitHub, and similar content delivery networks. Like any website you visit, these hosts receive your IP address when an image is downloaded.
Apple services
- Shazam (song recognition). If you tap Identify Song, in the app or in CarPlay, the app records about 12 seconds of the radio stream itself, not your microphone. It turns that audio into a signature and sends the signature to Apple's Shazam service to find a match. A recognized song is added to your song history. By default it is also added to your Shazam library, which is linked to your Apple Account. You can turn this off with Settings → Save Songs to Shazam in the app. Song recognition only runs when you ask for it.
- Apple Music lookup and cover art. To show album art for the song playing now, in your song history, on the Lock Screen, and in widgets, the app automatically sends the song's title and artist, along with your device's region, to Apple's public iTunes Search service. If you have given RadioPL access to Apple Music, it searches the Apple Music catalog instead. Results are cached on your device so each song is looked up only once. When you tap the Apple Music button on a song, the app looks the song up the same way on Apple's public iTunes Search service.
- Apple Music library (optional). The app asks for permission to access your Apple Music library only when you turn on Settings → Collect Songs in Apple Music, or when you tap a button to add a song to your library or playlist. It then adds songs you recognize or save to your library, or to a "Heard on RadioPL" playlist it creates there (the name follows your language). This requires an Apple Music subscription. You can turn off Collect Songs in Apple Music at any time in the app, and revoke access in iOS Settings → Apps → RadioPL.
- SharePlay. If you choose Listen Together with SharePlay during a FaceTime call, the app shares the station you are playing (its name and identifier) with the people on the call so everyone hears the same station. Anyone on the call can change the station for everyone. You can also continue the session on Apple TV. Custom stations are never shared. Apple handles SharePlay under its privacy policy.
- Siri, Shortcuts, and Apple Intelligence. RadioPL works with Siri, Shortcuts, and CarPlay. To give you better suggestions, the app tells the system which stations you play from inside the app, which station is playing or on screen, and your favorite and recent stations. This information stays on your device and is handled by Apple under its privacy policy. You can manage this in iOS Settings → Apps → RadioPL → Siri.
- Spotlight. Stations, including your custom stations, are added to your device's Spotlight index with their name, description, genres, region, and logo, so you can search for stations from the Home Screen. Your favorites and recent stations are ranked higher. Your song history is not indexed.
- CarPlay. In the car, RadioPL shows your stations and lets you identify songs. CarPlay is part of iOS and handled by Apple.
- Alarms (iOS 26 and later). If you set a wake-up alarm, the app uses Apple's AlarmKit and asks for your permission first. Alarms are scheduled on your device.
- TipKit. The app uses Apple's TipKit to show feature tips. It records on your device which tips you have already seen.
- Tips and App Store ratings. You can leave an optional tip under Settings → Leave a Tip. Tips unlock nothing. Apple processes the payment through the App Store, and I do not receive your name, payment details, or Apple Account information. The app may occasionally ask you to rate it through Apple's standard rating prompt.
These Apple services are covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Sharing and exporting
You can share or copy your song history, share a song or station as an image, and export your library (favorites, most-played stations with play counts, and custom stations with their stream addresses). These are only created when you ask, and are sent only where you choose to send them.
Links that open other apps or websites
Some buttons open other apps or websites, such as Apple Music, Spotify, a station's website, or a station's Facebook, Instagram, or X page. RadioPL sends nothing to these services itself. Once you leave the app, the other service's privacy policy applies.
4. Contacting Me
If you email me, either through Send Feedback or Station Not Working? in the app, or directly, I receive your email address, your name (if your mail app includes it), and whatever you write.
By default, the in-app feedback form adds a short diagnostics section to help me fix problems. You can preview it before sending, and you can turn it off. It contains:
- App version and build number
- iOS version
- Device model (for example, "iPhone18,1")
- App language and device region
- The station you are reporting or currently playing, including its stream address
- Playback status, including any error message
- If that station failed to play, when it failed, the error, and the stream addresses the app tried
- Up to 5 other stations that failed to play in the last 7 days, with the time and type of each failure
- Short summaries of up to 5 crash or hang reports from the last 30 days
- If available, the most recent diagnostic report that iOS collected for RadioPL through Apple's MetricKit (for example, a crash, hang, or excessive CPU or disk use report). It is attached as a separate file and contains technical information such as stack traces and the iOS and device version. It is only attached when the diagnostics option is on.
The diagnostics do not include your name, your device's name, any device or advertising identifier, your favorites, your song history, or your location. The only stations they mention are the one you are reporting or playing and any that recently failed to play.
Nothing is sent until you tap Send in your mail app. I use your email only to reply to you and to improve the app. I don't sell it, share it, or add you to a mailing list. I keep messages only as long as I need them to help you, and you can ask me to delete our conversation at any time.
5. What I Do Not Do
- I do not sell, rent, or trade any information.
- I do not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services, whether my own or from a third party. Apple's MetricKit reports stay on your device unless you include them in an email.
- I do not track you across apps or websites, and I do not use the advertising identifier.
- I do not build profiles about you.
- I do not access your microphone, location, contacts, photos, camera, or health data.
- I do not send notifications. The app uses silent system pushes only so that iCloud sync can stay up to date.
6. Your Choices and Deleting Your Data
Inside the app, you can:
- Clear Recently Played and Clear Songs Heard in Settings
- Clear History in Song History, or swipe to delete individual songs
- Unfavorite stations
- Delete custom stations, which also removes their history
- Delete or turn off wake-up alarms
- Turn off "Save Songs to Shazam", "Collect Songs in Apple Music", "Rewind While Listening", and diagnostics in the feedback form
If iCloud sync is on, deletions also apply on your other devices.
To remove everything:
- Delete the app from your device. This removes all data stored on that device.
- To remove synced data, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage (the exact name varies by iOS version) and delete RadioPL's data.
- To remove songs saved to Shazam, open the Shazam app or the Music Recognition list in Control Center.
- To remove songs added to Apple Music, delete them or the "Heard on RadioPL" playlist in the Music app.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct, delete, or move it, the right to object to or restrict processing, and the right to withdraw consent. Such rights exist, for example, under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
Most RadioPL data never reaches me. It stays on your device or in your private iCloud account, and you control it directly as described in Section 6. The only personal data I might hold is email correspondence. To exercise your rights over it, email me at the address below. I will respond within the time required by applicable law.
For users in the EU and UK: For email correspondence, I am the data controller. My legal basis for processing it is my legitimate interest in answering your questions and supporting the app (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). For diagnostics, the basis is your consent, which you give by leaving them included (Article 6(1)(a)). You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Poland, that is the Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO).
For California residents: I do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
8. Children's Privacy
RadioPL is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has emailed me personal information, contact me and I will delete it.
9. International Users
I am based in the United States. If you email me, your message will be processed in the United States and by my email provider. Data synced through iCloud is stored by Apple according to Apple's policies.
10. Security
RadioPL connects over HTTPS wherever the broadcaster supports it. Some radio stations only offer unencrypted (HTTP) audio streams. For those stations, the audio stream itself is not encrypted, but no personal data is sent over it. Data on your device is protected by iOS data protection, and iCloud data is protected by Apple's security measures.
11. Changes to This Policy
If the app's data practices change, I will update this policy and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, I will also mention them in the app's release notes.
